The Philomath Citizens’ Academy is your all-access pass to see how our city really works!
Nine interactive weekly sessions, participants will:

  • Meet the people who keep our community running.
  • Explore how city services are planned, funded, and delivered.
  • Get a behind-the-scenes look at the projects, programs, and partnerships that shape life in Philomath.

Whether you’re new to town or have lived here for decades, this program is a fun and eye-opening way to connect with local leaders and fellow community members.

Who Can Attend?

The Academy is open to:

  • Anyone 16 years or older

  • Philomath residents—both newbies & longtime locals

  • All curious minds who want to learn more about their city

Topics You'll Explore

Each week features a different focus area, with presentations, Q&A sessions, and tours led by City staff and community partners. Topics include:

  • Police & Fire Services – Meet the people who keep Philomath safe.

  • City Budget, Finances & Planning – Discover how decisions are made and funded.

  • Schools, Library & Non-Profits – Learn about the community organizations shaping education and services.

  • City Infrastructure & Parks – Explore how water, sewer, roads, and parks are maintained.
