Have you ever wondered what it would be like to spend the night at a museum? Now your stuffed animal friend can do just that and tell you all about it!

Kids can bring a stuffed animal to the Philomath Museum for an interactive Story Time with songs, crafts and books about animals.

After Story Time, if the child is comfortable doing so, they can leave their stuffed animal for a magical overnight adventure at the Museum! Who knows what kind of fun the toys will have once the lights go out?

Pick up your child’s stuffed friend the next day and receive photos of their overnight escapades!

Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Please reserve a ticket for each adult and child participating.

Therese Oneill presents Ungovernable: The Victorian Parent’s Guide to Raising Flawless Children.

Feminist historian Therese Oneill is back, to educate you on what to expect when you’re expecting . . . a Victorian baby! In Ungovernable, Oneill conducts an unforgettable tour through the backwards, pseudoscientific, downright bizarre parenting fashions of the Victorians, advising us on:

  • How to be sure you’re not too ugly, sickly, or stupid to breed.
  • What positions and room decor will help you conceive a son.
  • How much beer, wine, cyanide and heroin to consume while pregnant.
  • How to select the best peasant teat for your child.
  • Which foods won’t turn your children into sexual deviants.
  • And so much more!

Note: this lecture takes place at the Philomath Museum.

Registration required. These lectures are free to the public, thanks to the support of our generous Historical Society donors and members like you! Please use the ticket link to reserve your seat, as space is limited.

Photography Notice: By attending this event, you acknowledge and agree that photography and/or video recording may take place. Your image, likeness, and voice may be used for promotional, marketing, or archival purposes without further notice or compensation.

For accommodation related to a disability, please contact Anya Ballinger at education@bentoncountymuseums.org

Suggested donation of $5-10. If you are interested in sponsoring a future lecture series at the museum, please contact Brenna Destito Chapman at development@bentoncountymuseums.org
